squaring a newell in place

Q:
How can you cut a stair newell perfectly square with it still in situ?

A:
That is a very good question. I don't know how you could do it. You could get close with careful measuring, and a plane, either hand or electric, taking off wood to your lines. But that would only be as close as your skill with a plane. I know I wouldn't be able to get it perfect, although I imagine some woodworkers could.

If any of you fine readers out there know the answer please post. Sorry not to be more help.
