Mahogany Humidor

This is a mahogany humidor I made. The box is made from 1/2" mahogany, 3/8" poplar and 1/4" Spanish cedar on the inside. I layered the wood to help lock in the moisture in the humidor. Humidors are usually kept around 68 - 70% humidity and poplar and especially Spanish cedar are excellent in keeping this moisture level.

Small Knife Box

This is a small knife box I made to hold two knives. The top of the box has a knife maker logo carved into it, and the sides are textured using a Dremel. The pins are 3/16" brass rod from Orchard Supply. The wood used is Poplar, and the stain is English Chestnut. Final coats were with Danish Oil.

Partitioned knife box with carving

I made this knife box to hold my favorite knives. This box is made from Poplar. I chose poplar because it's easy to carve, is inexpensive, easy to get, and this box was going to be rustic and I didn't really care about imperfections in the wood or ability to take stain. I personally like poplar for making boxes, but have used a lot of oak and mahogany as well.
